After Jesus had been taken up to heaven, the Apostles returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a sabbath day’s journey away.
When they entered the city they went to the upper room where they were staying, Peter and John and James and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew and Matthew, James son of Alphaeus, Simon the Zealot, and Judas son of James.
All these devoted themselves with one accord to prayer, together with some women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brothers.

Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala. When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple there whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. After this, aware that everything was now finished, in order that the Scripture might be fulfilled, Jesus said, “I thirst.” There was a vessel filled with common wine. So they put a sponge soaked in wine on a sprig of hyssop and put it up to his mouth. When Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” And bowing his head, he handed over the spirit. Now since it was preparation day, in order that the bodies might not remain on the cross on the sabbath, for the sabbath day of that week was a solemn one, the Jews asked Pilate that their legs be broken and they be taken down. So the soldiers came and broke the legs of the first and then of the other one who was crucified with Jesus. But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs, but one soldier thrust his lance into his side, and immediately Blood and water flowed out.

Priest: Brothers and sisters, let us join the Virgin Mary in prayer, because if she is praying with us, her holy Son is sure to listen to our pleas.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. – It is right and just.
It is truly right and just, our duty and our salvation, always and everywhere to give you thanks, Lord, holy Father, almighty and eternal God, and to proclaim your greatness with due praise as we honour the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Receiving your Word in her Immaculate Heart, she was found worthy to conceive him in her virgin’s womb and, giving birth to the Creator, she nurtured the beginnings of the Church.
Standing beside the Cross, she received the testament of divine love and took to herself as sons and daughters all those who by the Death of Christ are born to heavenly life.
As the Apostles awaited the Spirit you had promised, she joined her supplication to the prayers of the disciples and so became the pattern of the Church at prayer.
Raised to the glory of heaven, she accompanies your pilgrim Church with a mother’s love, and watches in kindness over the Church’s homeward steps, until the Lord’s Day shall come in glorious splendour.
And so, with all the Angels and Saints, we praise you as without end we acclaim:

C. The mystery of faith.
– We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again.
A. Therefore, O Lord, as we celebrate the memorial of the saving Passion of your Son, his wondrous Resurrection and Ascension into heaven, and as we look forward to his second coming, we offer you in thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice.
Look, we pray, upon the oblation of your Church and, recognizing the sacrificial Victim by whose death you willed to reconcile us to yourself, grant that we, who are nourished by the Body and Blood of your Son and filled with his Holy Spirit, may become one body, one spirit in Christ.
1. May he make of us an eternal offering to you, so that we may obtain an inheritance with your elect, specially with the most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with blessed Joseph, her Spouse, with your blessed Apostles and glorious Martyrs (with Saint N.: the Saint of the day or Patron Saint) and with all the Saints, on whose constant intercession in your presence we rely for unfailing help.
2. May this Sacrifice of our reconciliation, we pray, O Lord, advance the peace and salvation of all the world. Be pleased to confirm in faith and charity your pilgrim Church on earth, with your servant Francis our Pope and Peter our Bishop, the Order of Bishops, all the clergy, and the entire people you have gained for your own.
3. Listen graciously to the prayers of this family, whom you have summoned before you: in your compassion, O merciful Father, gather to yourself all your children scattered throughout the world.
4. To our departed brothers and sisters and to all who were pleasing to you at their passing from this life, give kind admittance to your kingdom. There we hope to enjoy for ever the fullness of your glory through Christ our Lord, through whom you bestow on the world all that is good.

Jesus, you told us you would leave us alone. You give us a peace that the world cannot give and therefore cannot take away from us (cf. Jn 14:27). Lord Jesus, you are the source of Patience.
You have said of yourself that You are the way, the truth, and the life (cf. Jn 14: 6). Lord Jesus, You are the source of Hope.
Jesus, You give us eternal life. Trusting in You, we hope that our life in Earth is connected to eternity, and that our eternal life received from You has already begun. Jesus, it is in your power to transform our fleeting aspirations for good into an everlasting value. We want to cooperate with Your grace. For you have come so that everyone who believes in You may not perish but may have eternal life (cf. Jn 3:16). Help us to be joyful in hope, to persevere in hardship, and to be steadfast in our prayers and adherence to you (cf. Rom 12:12)!

Lord Jesus, You are the source of Faith.
Jesus, You said that whoever believes in you, streams of living water shall flow from his heart (Jn 7:38). We believe, Lord, and we ask You to increase our faith (Lk 17:5), to believe in You and to believe in what You have entrusted to us. Let us believe in the active power of Your Holy Spirit who wants to work for us in this world. May we have a zealous faith so that when they see our good deeds, many may be comforted, supported, and their lives renewed.

Lord Jesus, You are the source of Love.
You said that no one can have greater love than to lay down his life for his friends (cf. Jn 15:13). You are a God and a friend who gave Your life for us. You turn to each of us personally. You know the deepest desires of our hearts and you want to fulfill them. You call us to get to know You and to remain in Your love (cf. Jn 15:9). You encourage us to love generously and without any pretence (cf. Rom 12:9). Help us to be resourceful in love and to love one another more and more just as you haved loved us (Jn 13:34).

The Eucharist – source of Mercy
Lord Jesus, You are the Source of Mercy.
Jesus, You are gentle and humble in heart. It is Your mercy that you hurry before towards us first with preventive and compassionate love, that you are able to free us from our sins and the dependencies that hold us. Therefore, nothing can separate us from the love of God that we share in you, Jesus. Neither death nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nothing already in existence and nothing still to come, nor any power, nor the heights nor the depths, nor any created thing whatever, will be able to come between us and Your merciful love of God (cf. Rom 8:38-39). Grant us that by the corporal and spiritual works of mercy we may also be mediators of Your merciful love.

The celebrant gives the blessing, than he kneels and prays the prayer for atonement.
After the prayer the Blessed Sacrament will be taken to a place of repose.
