My brothers, do not try to combine faith in Jesus Christ, our glorified Lord, with the making of distinctions between classes of people.
Now suppose a man comes into your synagogue, beautifully dressed and with a gold ring on, and at the same time a poor man comes in, in shabby clothes, and you take notice of the well-dressed man, and say, ‘Come this way to the best seats;’ then you tell the poor man, ‘Stand over there’ or ‘You can sit on the floor by my foot-rest.’ Can’t you see that you have used two different standards in your mind, and turned yourselves into judges, and corrupt judges at that?
Listen, my dear brothers: it was those who are poor according to the world that God chose, to be rich in faith and to be the heirs to the kingdom which he promised to those who love him.

He took him aside in private, away from the crowd, put his fingers into the man’s ears and touched his tongue with spittle. Then looking up to heaven he sighed; and he said to him, ‘Ephphatha,’ that is, ‘Be opened.’ And his ears were opened, and the ligament of his tongue was loosened and he spoke clearly. And Jesus ordered them to tell no one about it, but the more he insisted, the more widely they published it. THE RENEWAL OF BAPTISMAL PROMISES

Ma van első szentáldozásotok napja. Ebben a szentmisében most már ti is meg tudjátok újítani keresztségi fogadásotokat, melyet annak idején, amikor megkereszteltek benneteket, szüleitek és keresztszüleitek tettek a nevetekben a jó Istennek. Akkor ti még nem tudtatok beszélni, azért helyettetek ők ígérték meg, hogy ellene mondotok a sátánnak és minden cselekedetének, és megígérték, hogy a katolikus Anyaszentegyházban Istennek szolgáltok. Itt az idő, hogy a saját nevetekben is kijelentsétek, hogy vállaljátok keresztségi fogadásotokat. Éppen ezért most megkérdezem:
Ellene mondotok-e a sátánnak? – Ellene mondunk!
Minden cselekedetének? – Ellene mondunk!
Minden csábításának? – Ellene mondunk!
Hisztek-e a mindenható Atyaistenben, a menny és a föld Teremtőjében? – Hiszünk!

C. The mystery of faith.
– We proclaim your Death, O Lord, and profess your Resurrection until you come again.

A. Therefore, O Lord, as we celebrate the memorial of the saving Passion of your Son, his wondrous Resurrection and Ascension into heaven, and as we look forward to his second coming, we offer you in thanksgiving this holy and living sacrifice.
Look, we pray, upon the oblation of your Church and, recognizing the sacrificial Victim by whose death you willed to reconcile us to yourself, grant that we, who are nourished by the Body and Blood of your Son and filled with his Holy Spirit, may become one body, one spirit in Christ.
1. May he make of us an eternal offering to you, so that we may obtain an inheritance with your elect, specially with the most Blessed Virgin Mary, Mother of God, with blessed Joseph, her Spouse, with your blessed Apostles and glorious Martyrs (with Saint N.: the Saint of the day or Patron Saint) and with all the Saints, on whose constant intercession in your presence we rely for unfailing help.
2. May this Sacrifice of our reconciliation, we pray, O Lord, advance the peace and salvation of all the world. Be pleased to confirm in faith and charity your pilgrim Church on earth, with your servant Francis our Pope and Peter our Bishop, the Order of Bishops, all the clergy, and the entire people you have gained for your own.
3. Listen graciously to the prayers of this family, whom you have summoned before you: in your compassion, O merciful Father, gather to yourself all your children scattered throughout the world.
4. To our departed brothers and sisters and to all who were pleasing to you at their passing from this life, give kind admittance to your kingdom. There we hope to enjoy for ever the fullness of your glory through Christ our Lord, through whom you bestow on the world all that is good.
A. Through him, and with him, and in him, O God, almighty Father, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, all glory and honour is yours, for ever and ever. – Amen.

At the Saviour’s command and formed by divine teaching, we dare to say:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name; thy kingdom come; thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.
