Manuel Nil Güel, the Apostolic Exarch to Greece of the Greek Byzantine Catholic Church was born in Spain. He was nineteen when he entered the Abbey of Montserrat as a candidate. He was ordained a priest in 1998. Afterwards, he continued his studies in Rome, and graduated from the Augustinian Patristic Institute, where he later earned his doctoral degree. Since 1992, he has been a teacher at the Pontifical University of the Holy Cross and the Pontifical Oriental Institute as well. In 2016, he was appointed as the Apostolic Exarch to Greece of the Greek Byzantine Catholic Church and at the same time was named Titular Bishop of Carcabia by Pope Francis.
